Every teenage girl has dreamt of that very special day when they are about to get married. Some girls dream of luxurious and elegant weddings, with fairytale-like dresses, carriages driven by white horses, large banquets with ladies-in-waiting and glass slippers like Cinderella’s. Other girls fantasize of celebrations which are more intimate, simple yet sophisticated and devoid of glam and lavish styles to make the event purely for the sake of tying the knot which will start their happily ever afters.
Katherine and Durward chose to have a simple celebration but a very expressive and momentous one. The biggest day of their lives started with both individuals getting up with huge smiles on their faces as they both prepared for their most awaited “I Do’s”.
Katherine, together with her mom got ready at the posh Shangri La Hotel Toronto and had her hair and makeup done by Melissa D’Abreu. Katherine’s overall look was simple and modest with her hair down looking like it has its natural curls, which was complemented by her light makeup. Designed by Beckers Bridal, her wedding gown was a simple floor-length, heart-shaped tube that has straps that can be removed. Katherine completed her look with her silver accessories, and strappy, gold high heels that made her look absolutely elegant and stunning.
Durward sported a dark shade of blue tuxedo, with matching sky-blue, patterned necktie, which was custom-made by Holt Renfrew. He looked awesome and dazzling with that flower pinned on his chest and he was radiating happiness and positivity all throughout the celebration.
The ceremony and the reception was held at the Campbell House Museum, which is an 1822 heritage house famously known for being one of the oldest standing buildings left in Toronto. The Campbell House was the perfect venue for the wedding ceremony of Katherine and Durward because it was simple yet elegant and sophisticated. The simplicity of their wedding made it more extraordinary because the celebration was more sincere and true to the real nature of the sacrament of marriage.
The couple got hitched in a very simple and straightforward manner but everyone can clearly see how deeply in love the two lovebirds were with each other. It was too obvious and heartwarming because every time Katherine and Durward looked into each other’s eyes, there’s this depth that nobody can put into words. There is this feeling that pierces the heart and brings chills to the bones, but in very positive and romantic way.
The couple exchanged their passionate and adoring vows and left the crowd dreamy and starry-eyed. Even the officiant, Rev. Dr. James A. Thomson couldn’t help but get emotional because the two lovebirds just showed the world that there is such a thing as a happily ever after. The wedding rings of Katherine and Durward, which were made by the Vandenbsoche Jewellers, were exquisitely stunning and perfectly matched their wedding gown and tuxedo.
Katherine and Durward had their portraits taken at the Osgoode Hall, which was just across the street. The hall provided the couple with picturesque backgrounds, which are around 170 years old. This 19th century heritage building is perfect for wedding photo shoots and pre-nuptial because it’s not only rich in culture but it is also breathtakingly beautiful.
The wedding reception was very homey and traditional looking with its round tables, which are covered with white, embroidered tablecloths. The tabletops were adorned with white flowers courtesy of Wind Flowers. Toben Catering graced the sumptuous banquet for the couple, which served mouthwatering cuisine for all the guests of the wedding.
The wedding cake of Katherine and Durward was a simple white cake, with no toppings, frostings or whatsoever. After slicing the cake and having a good time, the couple once again tickled the hearts of the guests by kissing passionately and showing the world that marriage is happiness.
The nuptials of Katherine and Durward just clearly showed the people that a simple marriage could bring out extraordinary and very special memories that will surely last a lifetime.
