STATUESQUE: A term that especially means majestic, noble, magnificent, and splendid; a towering beauty, mostly pertaining to a woman of dignity. Naming a styled shoot after such a regal word is no easy feat, but pulling it off successfully is something else altogether.
The statuesque reminded us that elegant minimalism, when done right, is a unique and charming way of styling. For this shoot, all the details were very carefully taken into consideration; hence, each vendor in the team made the dream into a reality.
The model slipped on three individually beautiful wedding gowns – but the unifying factor was that all three looked very ethereal in their own ways. They were not too fit, not too voluminous, and never looked restrictive to a certain form. The makeup was made to be natural, accentuating her features. Together with this, she wore a radiant blue diamond cut wedding ring – a piece that screams ‘timeless classic’, accompanied by earrings of the same kind. The wedding bouquet she carried was made of purely white flowers, ranging from roses to carnations to anthuriums.
For the venue design, the starkness and contrast of their chosen colors were focused upon. They had a very strong yet romantic palette, much like a painter’s preference lived through a wedding. The venue and its elements beamed with flat whites, creams, blues, golds and dark greys. They had a blue-washed wall with an interesting faded cement finish, and the backdrop’s accent was made of familiar natural elements, but duly painted with the starkness of white. The wedding cake, one of our favorite elements, is a true piece of art in itself. It reminded us of a marble sculpture – that of a Donatello, or a Bernini, or a Michelangelo.
The statuesque shoot was a feast of beauty to behold. From the likings of a fairy tale to modern minimalism, it is the perfect example of mystical and contemporary elements, wed together.
