We always love it when we get into a wedding venue and see a number of elaborate designs and awesome décor. That’s because spectacular displays are great for photography. But it doesn’t mean we don’t adore setups with only a few elements in it. In fact, it’s fascinating to witness how a piece of choice ornament can dramatically change how arrangements look. A small bouquet of lovely handpicked flowers on a table, choice rose buttoner on a suit, and several wooden white chairs on a grassy lawn – these simple things can make a big difference. Ivy and Naishi’s wedding last June 2014 is exactly what we are describing. Their wedding celebration looked so elegant we couldn’t help but share it with you.
To begin with, it was pure joy to work with Ivy and Naishi. This charming couple had a happy persona and it was very comfortable to be with them. We had a ton of pictures of the two sweethearts smiling. Laughter was always expected with them around. They were even quirky at times, making faces and teasing each other. It was fun when they brought out some mustache, lips, and bowtie paper cutouts which made everyone giggle and put a smile on all our faces. Ivy and Naishi were just simply and absolutely wonderful.
One of the best choices the couple made to make their wedding look fabulous was booking an attractive venue for their celebration – the Estates of Sunnybrook. Historic buildings adorn the place and the formal gardens are absolutely beautiful. Among the three grand structures in the property, the couple chose one of the smaller mansions – the McLean House. This place is definitely one of our favorite locations in Toronto for wedding photography. The venue felt very intimate and elegant while exuding a romantic ambience due to its gorgeous interior design intricacies, stylish furniture, and handsome landscaping. It had this royal appeal that’s just so perfect for wedding portraiture.
The bride and the groom also played their part by dressing up stylishly. Ivy looked absolutely stunning in a white ball gown dress and even looked like a sweet lovely princess on her way to meet her prince charming. And since being in a majestic Georgian-style mansion, it really felt as if we were in the presence of royalty.
We enjoyed every moment of this wonderful day. The design for the ceremony looked very fresh, intimate, and sophisticated thanks to Caprice Design and Décor. They made a charming minimalistic setup using choice flower arrangements and lots of flower petals along the center aisle. There was a beautiful moment when everyone was making the place look awesome as they happily blew out soap bubbles while giggling, laughing, and even making quirky faces. This has to be one of the sweetest outdoor ceremonies we’ve ever attended.
The reception area was also gorgeous and natural light looked beautiful as it lit the whole place. It felt really stylish, pretty, and inspiring. Since the groom and his friends were dancers, Naishi surprised his lovely bride with an especially planned dance number together with his entourage. Their dance moves were crazy fun. We loved that the crowd was laughing, clapping, and cheering the whole time. Just looking at the bride watch the crazy playfulness of her fearless husband, we knew she surely enjoyed her day. As for us, we had a blast too.
