We will be the first to admit that we love weddings with a lot of details. More details mean a lot of great subjects to shoot. But you actually don’t need too many details or have a lot of bling in your wedding day to look fabulous and have an amazing wedding. Simple can also be very elegant with the right choice of places and items in your wedding basket. Max and Francine’s wedding is a perfect example. We seriously think they picked the right location for their reception, venue, and even the hotel for their pre-wedding activities. While they didn’t need too many little details in their wedding, everything was absolutely wonderful.

Makeup shots, dress-ups, family portraits and bridal solos are always part of our agenda but finding the right location for all-made-up portraiture is something we are truly picky about.

Francine was simply stunning in her classy long gown. She didn’t add too much on her as he only added a pearl necklace and a pair of pearl earrings on her ears. A nice white orchid flower accent which adorned her hair also added a bit more elegant touch to the radiant bride.

The church didn’t need any fancy setup either. It was enough that Grace Church on-the-Hill, a parish built in the early 1900’s, had that architecture that was beautiful for weddings even without the usual flower arrangements and draperies. The detail of arches, beams, and high classy ceilings that you normally would find in a cathedral was enough to make everything look wonderful. Max and his entourage were already waiting for their turn for pictorials when we arrived at the church. They’re quite a fun bunch as we took shots at the back room and right outside the building.

Since the reception was at Sassafraz Restaurant, which is located in the heart of Yorkville, we decided to have the couple’s pictorials in the area. The town is known to be frequented by celebs and famous people who visit Toronto. It’s great location for wedding parties, pictorials, and even “star-gazing” – the celebrity kind. Everything from quaint shop buildings to narrow streets and stone walkways adds to the magic of Yorkville. Taking advantage of the character of the place and that impeccable romantic ambience that you can get out of an upscale town was an excellent decision for us. We were very fortunate to be able to take some Yorkville shots during sunset and everyone seems to be very happy with the results.

Even before the ceremony started, we already anticipated that it was going to be an awesome celebration for us. A beautiful church plus a lovely bride and groom who both never fails to smile was a giveaway. It was a formula that would always translate into some amazing wedding portraits… and we were right. It was a simple ceremony at a great location. Francine was indeed the darling bride that day as all eyes were truly on her. And when the lovely couple held hands, we couldn’t help but imagine that if you could turn them into figurines, they’d fit perfectly on top of a wedding cake.

While we’re still thinking back on how classy the reception was and how we loved every moment of that day, we hope that we are able to share the beauty of simplicity through the images we took. With that, do enjoy the photos.
