Can we just say how much we love when couples think outside of the box on their wedding day? Meet Laura and Greg of Toronto – the bridal party wore converse on their Thanksgiving day wedding! The couple wanted their wedding day to be intimate and unconventional and we delivered.
The Berkeley Field House, which Laura chose for her wedding day preparations along with her closest girlfriends, boasts a versatile mix of urban outdoor and indoor spaces (and the most gorgeous chandeliers!) She wore two beautiful gowns – a red lace dress to honour and celebrate her Chinese heritage, followed by a classic white western style dress. The bridesmaids wore airy purple chiffon dresses to match the bridal bouquet.
The couple walked along the arty and quirky neighbourhood of Queen Street East – home to trendy lofts, century-old art venues and eclectic antique stores. The shoot was spontaneous with a strong character – we found unique alley ways and old parking spots. It was important for us to make Laura and Greg feel like the shots represent them as a couple and the streets of Queen East gave us just that. It’s true when they say a picture is worth a thousand words: we have captured hilarious moments of goofing around and jumping in the air, as well as the pair lovingly hugging each other.
Laura donned her gorgeous western style dress as the bride and groom had their first big reveal on the patio of the Berkeley Field House. The day continued with an intimate outdoor ceremony with laughter, love and smiles all around in venue’s backyard. The coolest part – instead having a traditional signing book, Laura and Greg opted for a unique finger print tree and the guests had a blast playing with it! To finish the great day off, a fun cupcake tower made its way into the backyard with many different flavours to choose from.
Genuine joy and joining of two cultures in a loving union was definitely the theme of the day and we enjoyed every second we spent with Laura, Greg and their friends and families! We wish the happy couple of a lifetime of happiness and smiles.
