It’s not often that we hear about love that starts at such a young age and stands the test of time through our most transformative years. When that comes around, you know that couple has something special. We were so honoured to capture the wedding of Stephanie and Michael – a truly memorable day for them that was met with so many old friends and family. It all started in the King Edward Hotel, where Michael and his closest friends got ready and had a silly photoshoot that may have included a pillow fight, and underwear with the word “Groomsmen” printed on them. In her own room, Stephanie celebrated with her bridesmaids by popping champagne and posing in their silk robes. Afterwards, the bride-to-be slipped into her dress, a beautifully laced Lee Petra Grebenau design paired with crystal studded heels and a white bouquet. What came next was going to be the most anticipated part of the day for them – the reveal. “We spent over a year and a half planning and finally seeing each other for the first time was so exciting and nerve racking. Looking back, we both loved being able to have that private moment. The first reveal really allowed us to take it all in which helped calm our nerves for the rest of the day.”
A traditional ceremony held in the hotel – it was beautifully decorated with candles lining the aisle and pink and white roses. Natural light poured in through the large floor to ceiling windows and their loved ones looked on as the couple said their “I do’s.” The couple’s smiles were contagious during the recessional, and everyone was beaming as the newlyweds made their way down the aisle. The reception was beautiful, with a cake that was inspired by her wedding dress, and their initials finely entwined into the stationary, symbolizing their union. Every fine detail that they had gave the decor so much more meaning.
The part of the day that ended up being a favourite of Stephanie and Michael’s was the party. They had hoped that their wedding would be a fun night but it “completely exceeded their expectations” they said. Coming Home by Leon Bridges played for their first dance – a song that brings them right back to their days of highschool. Their advice to other couples planning their wedding – “Definitely invest in photography since photos are the only thing you’ll have to look back on! Remember what the day is really about and not to stress over all of the little details. They will get sorted out. Lastly, have fun! It’s only one day and it goes by so fast.”
