After a year of being the new kid in school, Matthew asked Sylvia to be his girlfriend at their grade 11 high school prom, and 10 years later he got down on one knee to ask her to be his wife at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. They have a love story that everyone has dreamt of, and their wedding was just as dreamy! Fun Fact: Sylvia has the most pinned engagement ring on Pinterest! Read about it here.
Inspired by the moment of the proposal, Sylvia wanted to also be surrounded by florals and greenery when they exchange their vows. First of all, you can’t go wrong with Niagara-on-the-Lake, but of course, they went beyond and chose the most beautiful orchard there!
From the tall trees that lined the driveway to the outdoor swing to the lawn games, Kurtz Orchard takes you away from the city for a magical garden experience. To elevate the experience, their florist created a floral arch for the ceremony and decorated the area with lanterns and soft petals. After 10 years in the making, these high school sweethearts deserve the perfect backdrop to mark the beginning of their ever after.
The greenery followed them to the reception with trees, ivy walls, and gorgeous flower arrangements. The string lighting and chandeliers added to the charm, along with the gold tapestry candles. The wooden table numbers and guest boards were handmade by the bride and the groom after getting the idea from Pinterest. With such a tight-knit group of family and friends, it truly felt like we were at an intimate backyard party. We had our own little fun when we snuck off with the couple during the reception dinner to take photos with the orchards. It was such a beautiful moment, it’s not surprising that the images have quickly become one of our favorites.
It’s so hard not to be touched by every moment knowing that they have been anticipating it for so long. Their first dance as husband and wife was as heartfelt as Sylvia’s dance with her father, and Matt’s dance with his mother. If you need to take a break from all the cute and worthy of crying moments, there were fire pits right outside the reception for guests to sit by and mingle.
The night of celebration ended with the newlyweds on the Kurtz Orchard bridge, sending off a lantern that lit up the clear spring sky. They were surrounded by their nearest and dearest who watched it all happen with their sparklers.
Sylvia and Matthew’s wedding has a special place in our hearts and it’s winning everyone else’s! Just in time for the warm wedding season, Sylvia’s wedding was featured on Ruffled Blog. We feel so lucky to have captured all the enchantment.
