Oscar De La Renta Inspired Photoshoot
Vibrant WedLuxe Creative Photoshoot at The Royal Conservatory of Music
Floral Focused Elegance
Oscar de la Renta was known for using fashion as a way to empower women, and his work certainly makes any woman wearing it feel confidently beautiful. We were lucky enough to shoot an editorial dedicated to showcasing de la Renta’s principles by creating a world that reflected his craftsmanship.
We love doing styled wedding shoots because it allows us to go crazy with our imagination without the risk of ruining genuine moments. For this shoot, we played with the trendy double exposure technique: the overlapping of two photos to create a single image – something you don’t always have time for during weddings! It’s hard not to use this effect when there are vivid and fun colours to work with just from the floral arrangements!
It’s a challenge to incorporate a variety of colours into luxury and elegance, but with a great team of vendors, anything is possible! The flowers themselves already got our jaws dropping, but placing them in beautiful ceramic planters with delicate patterns left us breathless. Who wouldn’t want to tie the knot with this kind of scenery? We thought it would be fun to have our bride sit at the end of the aisle, adding gracefulness to the setting. It’s a sight too whimsical for a real wedding!
The food was equally as vibrant and exquisite! The cake, for example, was a canvas for edible flowers that matched the surrounding arrangement. It was one of those cakes that look too good to eat, but worthy of being eternalized on wedding photos. The stationary measured up to the modern sophistication theme with the use of bold colours and clean geometric designs. We loved being able to take our time arranging these details, playing around with ribbons and accessories on watercolour paper backgrounds. This is something we look forward to in the mornings with our brides! We always ask them in advance to gather all the pretty details so it’s ready for us to get our hands on.
The scene that was created before our eyes excited our senses without overwhelming it. The attention given to all the little things made the bigger picture all the more magnificent – something Oscar de la Renta is known for. His bridal dress collection and handmade shoes added to the whole ambiance of subtle luxury.
The modern, yet classic interior of The Royal Conservatory of Music served as the bright and refined environment that made it possible for this majestic garden to flourish. This venue is versatile to host any events, especially weddings! The floor to ceiling glass windows mixed with the view of greenery and historical architecture, this spot has everything that a modern bride dreams about. We can’t wait to share a wedding we shot at this location earlier this year!
