Toronto Island Wedding

Thanh & Mark

Fall has always been a popular season for weddings, and for good reason. This year I witnessed a breathtaking display of colour and natural foliage as old made way for new. The crisp weather and changing leaves created a cozy atmosphere and dramatic natural backdrop. It was a pleasure of being a part of Thanh and Marks wedding. It was just last year when Thanh and Mark got engaged and we did the shoot at Scotsdale Farm.

The morning of the wedding began with two beautiful vietnamese tea ceremonies. We visited both the homes of Thanh and Mark and indulged in the arrangement of cultural traditions. Thanh, soon to be Marks wife, truly looked like a princess in her ao dai, a flowing vietnamese dress for very special occasions. The ceremony was marvelous and vibrant with colour.

The wedding ceremony was truly divine and took place at St Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Toronto. Watching Thanh and Mark exchange wedding vows could not have been more picture perfect. The overload of emotion and love I saw reminded of the warm summer day that Thanh and Mark first got engaged.

After the wedding, our plan was to drive downtown and take the ferry to the Toronto Islands. The weather turned out to be so great that once we got to the lakeshore we decided to walk the rest of the way. Just before we reached the ferry, we couldn’t help ourselves and stopped for hot dogs. We had some good laughs and it was great enjoying the sun and getting recharged for the night.

The reception was set to take place at The Rectory Cafe on Ward’s Island, which is a part of Toronto Islands. It was a nice adventure and since we took the ferry we had the chance to stroll the island and take some great pictures.

As the day turned into evening, the beauty of the The Rectory Cafe welcomed us into a magical candlelight setting. It was romantic and I could tell The Rectory Cafe took great care and detail with every arrangement. The dinner was flawless, drinks flowed, and most importantly everyone was having fun. The mood was set.

I never knew that we had such a beautiful and peaceful escape right here in the city.
