Purple Tree Photography Engagement Shoot

Toronto Island has become our home away from home. I wonder if we can get a seasonal pass for next year. With so many rustic backdrops and beautiful sceneries there is no surprise it is one of the hottest spots for wedding and engagement photo shoots. A ride on a ferry definitely beats being stuck somewhere on the Gardiner and adds some romance to your day. So if you live around downtown core and want to hide from the craziness of the big city for your photo shoot, Toronto Island is a no brainer.

Jacci and Walter picked a vintage picnic theme for their photo shoot. For some reason we think this style fits them really well. Has to be Jacci’s elegance and Walter’s beard. We were not surprised to find out that Jacci and Walter love visiting farmers markets and local antique stores on the weekends.
They were dressed according to the theme and picked a few cool props for the shoot. We loved old school coke bottles and vintage picnic basket set.

We met up early in the morning by the entrance to the ferry terminal. It was crowded and we were joking how we were not going to get on the next ferry. Well, guess what; they closed the gates right in front of us and we had to spend next 15 minutes taking pictures right at the terminal and talking about plans for the big day.

The wait was well worth it, the ferry ride was fun and we managed to snap a few candid shots of our stylish love birds. When we finally got off the boat we decided that one picnic spot was not going to cut it, there were just way too many appealing locations and we all felt like a hike around the island wouldn’t hurt at all. We got it all, dreamy lake Ontario and white sands, green parks, beautiful bridges and some neat looking buildings.

Most of the time when working on vintage shoots we tend to use pastel colours and desaturate the images slightly. For this one we felt like making the photos pop to show vibrant personalities of Jacci and Walter. Even the black and whites seem to be more lively than ever. Those two had some serious chemistry going on and their smiles were brighter than the summer sun.
